Important Information COVID19

**We will keep this page updated as and when we have more information**

To all our dealers - are you open?

In the current COVID-19 situation many key workers are turning to bikes for transport, and asking where they can get their bikes serviced.

The Bicycle Association and Association of Cycle Traders are working together to make a tool where key workers and others who need bikes for exercise and wellbeing can quickly find open bike shops.

But in order for this to happen they need to know ASAP if your bike shop remains open, and on what basis.

This process should be very quick and easy: most shops will find their contact details etc. will be auto-completed when you enter your postcode. Then all you need to do is answer one multiple-choice question to confirm your current opening arrangements. You can come back and revise this later if circumstances change.

This is completely free of charge and you do not have to be a member of the ACT or BA to participate.

Your opening info will then be available nationally via an online “find my nearest open bike shop” postcode finder at www.openbikeshops.uk so that customers can direct any enquiries straight to you.

Please do participate via the link above as soon as possible if you are open!

The sooner you are confirmed as open, the sooner it will help drive traffic to you and help develop this open bike shop finder as a really useful resource for everyone needing your services to keep them moving in these extraordinary times.

For the coming weeks, we will be operating slightly different order cut off times for next day deliveries.

Alongside many other process changes within our work place, related to Covid-19, we have decided to adjust the working hours for our warehouse staff to help maintain their safety and well-being at this difficult time. Therefore, the new Next Day Delivery cut off times will be:

Monday - 4:30 pm

Tuesday - 4:30 pm

Wednesday - 12:00 pm (Midday)

Thursday - 12:00 pm (Midday)

Friday - 12:00 pm (Midday)

For more information contact your sales representative.

Bank Holiday Service

For the forthcoming Bank Holiday, the last pick up for delivery before the weekend will be 12.00 pm on Wednesday, for delivery Thursday.

Orders placed before 12.00 pm on Thursday will be delivered the following Tuesday or can be upgraded to a Saturday delivery with a £5.00 surcharge (contact sales for more information).

Our offices will be closed for business Friday and Monday.

Company update : 31st March 2020

Dear customers,

CORVID 19 update. It is far too early to forecast an end to this horror story but one thing is for certain there are heroes’ emerging. The NHS and support staff have been unbelievable but also those essential workers keeping everything else going will also deserve massive plaudits for their work. It is quite incredible that we will shortly be opening a 4000 bed ICU equipped hospital which only a couple of weeks ago was only a plan – this will be the biggest hospital in the world – built in two weeks!

I am not going to try to compare our efforts with these heroes however we should not completely discount the value of the work our industry is doing. The government identified cycling and therefore cycle shops as key and I urge you to have a look at this link from Chris Boardman who in the first part reminds us all of how the bicycle is helping the nation through this crisis and then goes onto warn cyclists to behave. If people flout the government’s guidelines about social distancing on bikes we may well all be told to close.

British Cycling Message | Chris Boardman > GO TO VIDEO

Remaining open in this situation is of course a difficult decision to make and many shops have suspended trading. Our business must reflect this reduction in outlets and we have decided to implement the governments job retention scheme and will putting about 25% of our staff on furlough. Some of these staff are sales contacts so please take note of the revised contact details are listed below.

Moore Large will remain open as long as we can and will continue to provide a service to all our customers but the situation remains fluid and these are uncharted waters. We must continue to be resolute in our decision making, and are determined to do the best thing.

I will of course continue to keep you updated, should the need arise to make further changes to our business but in the meantime, I would like to thank you again for your ongoing support and wish you all the best in the weeks ahead.

Best Regards,
Nigel Moore- MD

Here's some of the support we're offering:

  • Increased credit limits subject to current status.
  • Half price carriage thresholds.
  • Double the number of days to pay.
  • These measures are to stay in place for the foreseeable future.

Company update : 25th March 2020

Dear valued customer,

We hope you and your loved ones are safe during this unprecedented time. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread, we are implementing a series of additional measures to ensure the health and wellbeing of our colleagues, customers and suppliers are maintained.

To limit the risks we have made the decision to temporarily close the H&J warehouse at Ilkeston and move all operations into our main warehouse at Moore Large & Co Ltd, Derby.

For now we are operating ‘business as usual’ for all our H&J customers but we ask that you now contact Niall for sales and Claire for accounts on the below numbers and emails.

Noting the ‘cash and carry’ service is NOT available and all orders will be shipped to you.

Niall Reason (Sales)

Tel: 01332 274 219

Email: niall.reason@moorelarge.co.uk

Claire Hadfield (Accounts)

Tel: 01332 274 262

Email: claire.hadfield@moorelarge.co.uk

We recognise the challenges in continuing to operate your business in these conditions, here’s some advice from the BA to ensure social distancing is maintained and we keep the nation pedalling.

  •   Operate by appointment only.
  •   Operate on a 'collect and deliver' basis in your local area.
  •   Operate on a ‘drive through/takeaway’ basis - customers order goods over the phone        and staff bring the goods out to their car/bicycle.
  •   Open for key workers only, perhaps by appointment.
  •   Continue to operate by mail order only.

We remain confident the bicycle industry will continue to thrive in years to come but during this unprecedented time we must work together to maintain the strong presence of the independent bike dealer on our high streets.

Thank you and remember - What a great time to be out riding a bike!

Best Regards,

Nigel Moore - MD

We will continue as long as possible to provide an uninterrupted service, our warehouse and offices remain operational and our stocks and deliveries remain strong.

In order to help with any short term interruption in consumer foot flow to your store’s I am happy to announce some increased support from us;

· Half price carriage thresholds.
· Double the amount of days to pay.

These measures are to stay in place for the foreseeable future.
We remain confident the bicycle industry will continue to thrive in years to come but during this unprecedented time we must work together to maintain the strong presence of the independent bike dealer on our high streets.
