The Moore family have been selling bicycles since 1947 when John Moore opened his first bike shop in Rickmansworth. Our ambition has always been to supply bicycles across all spectrums – including family and sport.

Our principal focus is exceptional customer service and great value. This remains as true today as it did then.

Today’s Moore Large is led by grandson Nigel as MD, Dale Vanderplank, Paul Stewart, Adam Biggs, and Adam Garner as directors. We’re are also lucky enough to have a further 90 staff who all share a passion for cycling and a determination to put the customer first.

Based in our 225000 sq. ft. facility in Derby UK, we act as exclusive UK representatives for an extensive number of high profile, and market leading retail brands.

This includes Tern, WethePeople, Lake, O'Neal, Polygon, Box, Alpina, Polygon, Kenda, Jagwire, On Guard and many more.

In addition to supplying branded products to the independent bicycle and motorcycle retail market, we also produce a vast range of ‘house brand' and ‘own label' items for many well-known UK high street stores, catalogue accounts and online retailers.

Our house brands include, but are not limited to, ETC, Forme, Cuda, Bumper and Onza.

After more than 40 years in the bicycle trade, we endeavour to expand the range of products that we create, the markets that we supply, and the brands that we support. We’re consistently striving to exceed customer expectation and needs.

Today’s Moore Large is led by grandson Nigel as Chairman, Dale Vanderplank, Paul Stewart, Adam Biggs and Adam Garner as directors. A further 90 staff make up the team, sharing a passion for cycling and a determination to put the customer first.

Based in our 215000 sq. ft. facility in Derby UK, we are brand owners for some of the fastest growing brands in the world of cycling. Forme and Cuda bikes and ETC accessories are leaders in the industry being the largest and most diverse range cycles and accessories available in the UK today. In addition we act as exclusive UK representatives for an extensive number of high profile, and market leading retail brands, this includes Tern, WethePeople, Lake, O'Neal, Box, Alpina, Kenda, Jagwire, OnGuard and many more.

Our Timeline 1974 - 2014 | 40 Years in the Cycle Trade |

1947 

John Moore opened his first bike shop in Rickmansworth. Our ambition has always been to supply bicycles across all spectrums.


1974

John Moore forms a new company with Cliff Large who is the distributor for Puch.

Moore Large is Born

1975

Expands distribution to bicycle accessories.

1976

Becomes first wholesaler to import from the Far East by being named the Kenda distributor.

1976

Moore Large becomes the first Wholesaler to distribute nationwide.


1979

Retail operation peaks at 15 stores, all of which are Raleigh 5 star dealerships.

1984

Purchases Puch UK. With this comes the contact for Hong Kong Link Bicycles.

1984

Purchase H&J Supplies, an established cash and carry business. Within a few years their business peaks at 8 branches across the UK.

1985

Imports bicycles from China Bicycle Company. Opens with Alpine promotion of 20,000 bikes to retail at £49.95 just before Christmas.


1986 - 90

Expands bicycle distribution with Emmelle, Freespirit, DiamondBack, MBK & Scott, all made by China Bicycle Company.

1993

Moore Large launches the ground breaking 'Sonic' child's bicycle. Acheiving sales in excess of 100,000 units.

1994

Moore Large is appointed as the UK distributor for Haro Bicycles.

1995

Registered the Barracuda bicycle brand in the UK.


1995

DiamondBack sales peak at 100,000 units. With a marked increase across the rest of the brand portfolio.

1998

Moore Large moves back in to the motorised market and are appointed as SYM distributors.

2002

Moore Large announces distribution of the complete Schwinn bicycle range.

2002

Moore Large's Bumper range of children's pavement bikes is launched.


2004

Schwinn Stingray takes the bicycle market by storm. Selling over 50,000 units.

2007

Major expansion of the parts and accessory side of the business. New brands secured include Knog, Lake and Limar.

2009

ONE23 component brand developed and launched. Aimed at the mid to high component market, across all genres of cycling.

2010

Forme Bike brand created and launched. An initial range of 5 bikes that would grow within the next few years.


2012

After several booms in the market "Social Bike Co" BMX brand was founded, created and launched.

2013

Onza trials bike and component brand acquired with the aim of expanding it globally.

2013

Eurobike UK Ltd acquired, the purchase includes continued distribution of Moda Bikes and American Classic.

2014

Celebrating 40 years in the cycle trade, Moore Large rebrands and hosts its first industry Geared Show
